Terrey Hills Division

"This is Coastal Patrol Sydney, go ahead, over..."

Terrey Hills Division provides the backbone of Coastal Patrol's communications facilities in the Sydney region. With a range of MF/HF and VHF radios communicating via local antennae and those at Killcare, North Head and Miranda, the radio base at Terrey Hills can communicate with vessels from Newcastle to Wollongong and beyond.

The primary role of the Radio Base at Terrey Hills is to maintain a listening watch on the marine radio emergency frequencies for vessels calling for help..... The secondary role of the Radio Operators at Terrey Hills is to provide a monitoring facility for leisure craft when they venture onto the water. Whether they are sailing from one port to another, going fishing or just cruising Sydney's magnificent waterways, "Coastal Patrol Sydney" maintains a log of  such vessels and provides an umbrella of safety. Another important function is to assist in the delivery of quality marine education programs for the public and comprehensive, ongoing training for Coastal Patrol members to ensure constant improvement of boating skills and safety standards. Education ...

Volunteer Coastal Patrol rescue crews give their time, risk their lives and brave dangerous seas,
at times in bitter cold and fierce storms, to help their fellow mariners.
